Network throttling
In today’s fast digital world, it’s essential to ensure that your application performs seamlessly under various network conditions. With Mobitru’s Network Throttling feature, you can easily test and optimize your application’s behavior across different network connections. This tool allows developers and testers to simulate various network environments, such as 3G, 4G, and others, to identify potential issues and enhance user experience. Moreover, you can customize the network based on your requirements.
Support
Currently, the feature is supported for Android devices only.
How to find Network throttling
To use the Network throttling feature, you need to start a device session, and find the Network throttling icon in the Pane to the right of the device:
Default state
By default, the tab contains a dropdown with different network types you can scroll and choose. Above the dropdown, you will see a block with Download, Upload and Latency information of the chosen throttling type.
Throttling type choice
It is easy to choose a throttling type on Mobitru. You need to do the following:
- Click on the Throttling type dropdown
- Click on the type you need
When the feature is active, the green circle appears on the Network throttling icon.
Custom throttling type
When you choose the Custom throttling type, additional elements appear:
- Inbound field
- Outbound field
- Latency field
- Apply button
Fill in the values necessary for your Custom network type, and click on Apply.
Error messages
The following errors can appear when you use the Network throttling feature:
- Couldn’t fetch the list of available option. Please try refreshing or wait a bit.
In this case, Mobitru couldn’t receive a list of the network throttling types. The Refresh button should help in this case.
- We couldn’t setup the network throttling for you. Please try again or come make a bit later
In this case, the values you entered in the fields of the Custom option couldn’t be applied.
If you need to check how the app behaves when the Wi-Fi is off on the device, just navigate to the device settings and switch off the toggle.
